Hope you don’t mind….I just thought I’d pass these details on. In the Barossa we are about to move one of our library branches, so I outsourced and booked an entertainer for the holidays. Nothing new there, but we are getting such great feedback from the kids and the parents, I thought it worth letting others know of him.
During the 45 minute session, Tony gives the kids instruments, dress ups, hand puppets, etc. – very interactive. He did 2 shows in a day for us and both were slightly different as he adapted them to suit the audience.
Tony is more than happy to travel for shows; including interstate. I spoke to him about his performing - as he has my dream job – and he can vary his programming to suit. As in, he’ll do a concert then do an instrument making workshop with the kids. Or he’ll do a concert followed by a biscuit decorating or pasta making workshop…whatever suits. As an registered school teacher, he’s pretty resourceful!
Following his performance here, Tony sent me the following, a list of other “shows and workshops” he can do. I thought it might be an idea to suggest it here and maybe interstate libraries could work regionally to have him in an area over a week or so if interested.
By the way I’m not on commission, I was just really impressed with how much the kids loved him! The mums did too, but that may be a while other issue. J

Cool 4 Kids in the Mallee
Picture a small rural community, weathered by another year of low rainfall and searing dust storms. Remarkably stoic, despite adversity, a wry sense of humour prevails, well worn by those doing it tough.
Enter a caravan of chefs, musicians, entertainers, wrestlers and a children’s artist all in the name of the humble spud, as Spudfest once again invigorates the communities of the Southern Mallee.
This is a festival that echoes the fortitude of the Mallee spirit and it’s essence – the children, a group of young people who don’t get a lot of exposure to traveling art, shows and music. So you can imagine the joy of having a resident musician for a week, creating songs, music and making instruments, with the grand finale in the main street of Pinnaroo. Yes, it was none other than Tony Genovese with his show - Cool for Kids, proudly supported by Country Arts SA. Cool 4 Kids originated several years ago when Tony, a school teacher by profession with a gift for music began to teach his son and this grew into the show it is today, traveling across the country by popular demand.
Described by one parent as "the largest audience a kid’s show has ever had in town" begins to sum up some of Cool 4 Kids success – the rest lies in the musical awakening by the "kids" themselves and the pleasure experienced by a rural community… And of course there’s the cd recorded live and unplugged!

Cool 4 Kids Family Fun Day in the Park
Tony Genovese from Cool 4 Kids held two fantastic shows featuring singing, dancing and a lot of crowd participation.
Children loved the interaction of the first show, “Let’s Party”, being able to dress up, use hand puppets, play instruments and, above all, dance to their heart’s content.
The second show, “Fun in the Sun”, taught children importance of sun protection, and how to play in the sun safely through more great songs and stories.

Thank you so much for visiting our Kindies at Esk and Toogoolawah in rural Queensland. We appreciate that you were prepared to come as many entertainers would feel that our rural centres were too out of the way. The children at both centres thoroughly enjoyed the show. I was pleased to see the way you were able to include all the children and I also liked the way children were dancing, singing and involved throughout. You were easily able to tailor your show to the smaller group of 20 at Toogoolawah and the larger group of forty at Esk. Your teaching background really shows through in the way you deal with young children. Great show! Would love to have you back next year!

I am emailing to thank you for the absolutely wonderful job that you did with the children at our party on Sunday (20th January 2008). Everyone cannot stop raving about how fabulous you were (kids and adults alike!) Thanks for making our party a great success. I have passed your business card on to Hanna Grant from 'Party on Wheels', and told her how fabulous you are. Hopefully she will give you lots of referrals.
Thanks a million. Tania Costello
